At one stage I thought this masyu was going to force me to use the same logic repeatedly (where the squares of 4 whites are), but you ensured that each set required a different thought process, so good job.

Neil Zussmannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2031071943178978556.post-53649906736686597892010-05-20T13:42:30.000+01:002010-05-20T13:42:30.000+01:00Hmm…we’ll have to see what sort of a mood I’m in t...Hmm…we’ll have to see what sort of a mood I’m in this coming week…

I’ve done symmetric givens for Masyu. Well, nearly symmetric. The problem is, symmetry in the givens tends to homogenise the solve somewhat – you end up doing the same thing twice, or even four times.

Thomas Collyerhttp://blogs.warwick.ac.uk/tcollyer/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2031071943178978556.post-86322837375658470722010-05-19T22:16:39.000+01:002010-05-19T22:16:39.000+01:00Certainly harder than it looked like it might be a...Certainly harder than it looked like it might be at one stage, but not so hard that it wasn’t enjoyable. Nice puzzle. Good to see something other than sudoku and kakuro. Of course, the next challenge is to make a puzzle with symmetric givens. And then maybe some more heyawakes and some yajilin. Am I too greedy? ;-)

Neil Zussmannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2031071943178978556.post-50242690905556693882010-05-17T20:54:48.000+01:002010-05-17T20:54:48.000+01:00Lovely puzzle! I’ve acquired a couple of shortcuts for future masyu from doing this one.

Alan O'Donnellnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2031071943178978556.post-84240672665875796132010-05-16T03:59:33.000+01:002010-05-16T03:59:33.000+01:00Thanks for the comment! I sort of stumbled upon it a while back when making a puzzle with rotational symmetry, only with the image of a white being black and vice versa. In fact, I sneaked in large elements of that smaller puzzle into this one.

Thomas Collyerhttp://blogs.warwick.ac.uk/tcollyer/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2031071943178978556.post-46548570689770195272010-05-15T14:27:55.000+01:002010-05-15T14:27:55.000+01:00Nice puzzle. The black ones are a nice easy entry at the beginning, but the white ones need to be carefully socketed into the loop at the end.

Jacknoreply@blogger.com
